Estonian designer in Kenya
From January to April WEFOCO hosted Estonian volunteer Liina Viira whose tasks were to develop products for Kenyan and Estonian markets based on the women groups skills and experiences. Liina is Estonian designer who is mostly working on her knitwear label NAiiV that is sold in her own store in Tallinn. Liina loves and understands traditional handcraft and believes that handwork can be used as a tool of communication. During her time in Kenya, Liina has been developing several products for the Estonian market, such as bicycle baskets and jewelery. Liina is also supporting the women to start their own school uniform production for the local secondary schools, currently the sample uniforms are in progress. Liina has really enjoyed her time in Kenya and we have enjoyed having Liina here in Shianda. Thank You!
