Tree planting prooject done by one of youth group under umbrella of wefoco was successfully able to distribute 5,000 trees to the locals and public places for planting to improve environment.

It was apleasure for wefoco to be visited by MONDO DIRECTOR Johanna helins atleast to see the sponsored children ,women groups, projects and Wefoco as an organisation.

WEFOCO RECIEVES TWO sEWING MACHINES FOR SHIANDA WOMEN GROUP INCOME GENERATING PROGRAMME

wefoco has 24 women groups which has recived the sewing machines to start anew project for self sustainabilty.This project has been facillited by MONDO.THANKS ALOT! ”It is good for someone to give you a hook than the fish” and this has been practiced by our ESTONIANS wellwishers.

WEFOCO CURRENT ACTIVITY FROM JULY 2011

During the month of July mid WEFOCO through Co-operation with GLEN (global education network) wefoco managed to receive two volunteers, one from Estonia, and another one from Germany who came for HIV/AIDS prevention programme for WEFOCO communities.
Glen volunteers together with WEFOCO organization organized for activities together, which were suitable for shianda communities. On the arrival to the community, there was orientation to the community groups whereby the volunteers by the name Nathalie and Minnie familiarized themselves with the families living with HIV and AIDS the first week and they shared a lot from each other.
The second activity still on HIV/AIDS programme we did HIV testing and counseling and the organization used the volunteers profession because one was a nurse also a social worker and it benefited the community around shianda.
The third activity was community outreach which included video showing to schools and community groups. Most people learnt from the video shown to them on HIV and AIDS prevention.
The fourth activity is what we are doing now that is visiting support group projects which include people who are affected with HIV/AIDS. wefoco together with volunteers are trying to learn from support groups on how they survive through their projects despite of their health status.
The remaining part is identifying families and seminars which will be carried out the remaining time since the volunteers came for HIV/AIDS prevention programme for 3 months which ends in October.

Rael, a 8-year old disabled young girl, started her school year in a boarding school for disabled children.

Saila receiving a present that was sent by her Estonian sponsors from Mondo project.

Five children form one family, who did not go to school because of financial problems. Later they were lucky to get sponsors thanks to the Mondo project.

The final spendings report

Hello.

The final spending report of the donated money we collected before going to volunteer in Kenya is uploaded. The last expenditures are added and one change made – as we ordered the chicken for 1000 shillings, that were wrote in the previous report for Lawrence Khaemba family, but we got information that some of the chicken that we gave out to the previous families, had died because of diseases and we decided to support his family with the school uniforms for 2 children instead to be sure that the money is spent the best way possible.

It was amazing, how much can be done thanks to some donations and we gave our best to ensure the best use of money while in Shianda. The remaining amount will be spent on Rael Barasa’s education in Disabled children’s school.
